Berted!
If you ever talk to an aussie they would be sure to recognise the name Bert Newton. Entertainer, actor and celebrity. Well tonight I went to see a taping of his new show "Bert's Family Feud". I've watched it a couple of times before but not regularly. Anyway Notamitchell had arranged for 4 of us to be in the audience for the taping of three episodes of the show. We hitched a ride with notamitchells two friends and set out for the channel 9 studio in Richmond. We arrived and after waiting for 30 minutes we were in!
After finding our seats we filled out some surveys to be used in future shows and then we were introduced to Pete Smith who was in charge of the warm up. Omg such a funny man. Seriously this guy has been around for years but still manages to make the audience laugh. He's a legend. So we were all pretty hyped up by the time the two families were introduced and then the show really started. The lights came on, the doors opened and Bert appeared at the top of the stairs in a cloud of smoke. Two beautiful girls appeared and guided him down towards the front of the stage.
The show was filmed in sections so that whenever there should be an ad break the show would stop for a break. In these breaks we were entertained by Pete Smith and got to talk to Bert.It took about 3 hours to film 3 episodes of the show. After the taping was finished we were all given cardboard faces of Bert... very random. So on the journey home we were "berting" people with the cardboard cutouts. Funnily enough the first person we berted was someone who had also been at the taping. They retaliated with their own bert whilst laughing at the insane people smiling crazily at them.
